Stories challenge us, they move us, and they change us. As Robert MacKee wrote, “Stories are the best way to get ideas into the world.” It’s no coincidence that Jesus used stories to teach people about life in the kingdom, about the grace of God, and about the danger of running against the grain of his love. Jesus was a humorous, masterful story teller. In the scriptures, these stories are called parables – and these layered, nuanced, paradoxical parables have changed the world.
