For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building. I Corinthians 3:9 NIV

We are all South Fellowship Church. It is not a building, it is the people who attend, teach, serve, pray and worship here. Paul makes this point when he writes to the churches in Corinth and in Rome. He uses the metaphor of a body and its various parts to explain that all of us are necessary to form a healthy, functioning, growing church. “If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be,” I Corinthians 12:17-18.

God gifts each one of us differently and uniquely. Paul encourages the Roman church members to be actively involved in their church body. “If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully,” Romans 12:7-8. South Fellowship has many opportunities for all of us to be involved in serving God, our fellow members, and our community of Littleton and the South Metro area.

This week, I encourage all of us to look at our involvement at South Fellowship. Are you serving in some way that fits your particular gifting? Some ministries that could use your time and talent are the Food Bank, Kid’s Ministry, MOPS, Family Promise, or the office team. Choose a ministry to invest your time, talent and treasure in, as no job is too small and all are important. Only when we are all involved, using our gifts, serving others and God with the Heart of Jesus in the Way of Jesus, is our body at South Fellowship functioning and healthy.
