What Makes Us Who We Are...
Jesus is the Head of the Church
The Bible makes this abundantly clear. The church is the body of
Christ - of which Jesus is the head. We desire to seek God's will in
everything that we do - both as individuals and as a community.
Steeped in the Word
We seek to be immersed in the Bible. Whether through preaching
and teaching on Sunday mornings, or studying with small groups
during the week, the Bible is the foundation for knowledge on how to
grow in Christ.
Living out the Mission
The good news of Christ shapes the way we live our lives. At work,
school, or home - we are sharing the message of the Bible through
our actions and words. This is also reflected globally through
short-term trips and support of vocational missionaries.
Sharing and Growing
We are passionate about pointing the way to Jesus and helping
individuals find new life in Him. We see each member of South as a
spokesperson for Jesus and his message. We also desire growth in
Christ through learning and mentoring. The Holy Spirit binds us
together as a family to encourage one another toward becoming a
passionate apprentice of Jesus.
Intergenerational
The church is made stronger through a diversity of age. We all have
wisdom to share with each other, both young and old. We seek to
create meaningful relationships between ages in order to grow in our
walk with Christ.
Passionate Prayer
Prayer is woven into everything we do. God listens and responds to
our prayers - but we also listen and respond to God's direction
through prayer.
Deep Relationships
The Christian walk should not be a lonely one. We desire to
surround ourselves with substantial relationships - so that we gain
accountability and support in our process of growth.
Complete Worship
We love to worship God through song, yet this is only a part of how
we worship. We desire to worship God with everything we are -
through our lives, our possessions, and our talents.
Walking on Water
As Peter took the risk to step out of the boat and onto the water, we
too desire to take these faith-filled risks. We remain dependent on
God as we seek to be generous with the sharing of ourselves and our
building. We remain afloat only when our eyes are locked on Jesus.
Our True Selves
We are all broken and desperately need the grace of God for life and
growth. We desire to be authentic with one another, even when that
means removing the façade of happiness and truly sharing our hurting
heart with a close friend.
